5 Reasons I Choose Home Over Work

Being a stay at home mom, or a SAHM is hard. This is not a typical 9-5 job where you can clock out at the end of the day, and your duties are over. There will still be bottles to wash, diapers to change, homework to do, and boo-boos to kiss. This labor of love job comes with plenty of stressors, but ultimately this lifestyle choice comes with benefits. Just not the 401k or medical type.

Kids Are Sick Less Often.

This translates to less doctor’s visits and medications. These medical bills, along with

missing work, can add up quickly. Being a SAHM means less medical bills and more full nights rest. All parents can use more sleep.

Better Behavior.

Several studies, including those conducted by the National Institute’s Study of Early Childhood Development, suggest that kids who are with their mothers’ full time may have a more stable, supportive environment. In one study, conducted by the University of Minnesota, found that many kids in daycare have elevated levels of cortisol in their saliva. Suggesting that kids in daycare have higher stress levels than those who get to hang out at home.

Eating Healthier While Cutting the Grocery Bill.

Let’s face it when both parents are working full times jobs, the last thing we want to do when we get home at the end of a long day cooks a nutritious meal. By staying at home, you can plan healthier meal options and shop for the best prices in your area.

All of Their First.

Probably the most selfish reason that being a SAHM is fantastic is that you don’t get to miss the most memorable moments of your child’s life. I am grateful that I will be there is experience and encourage all of their “first.”

Homemaking.

Everyday homemaking is time-consuming and frankly something I do not want to do after working a typical 9-5 job. But homemaking is something that I very much enjoy. I enjoy having my husband coming home to a clean house, making Pinterest worthy meals every night, and freakishly organizing every drawer and closet in the house. Having the time and energy to teach my kids how to make a home properly is also significant to me.

If you are a SAHM, feel guilty no more. Let this help serve as a reminder that the things we put up with on a daily basis do matter. Being a stay at home mom is what you make of it. Keep up the good work and continue rocking at being a SAHM. Be extra. Be THAT mom.
